John Howard – clueless to the end

I got the shock of my life when I saw little Johnny’s head pop up on telly this morning.  It seems that he’s been knocked back by the ICC Test playing nations as the next VP of the ICC.

The funny thing is that he is refusing to accept the decision and says that he’ll keep on fighting.  Hmmm…I’m getting a strong sense of deja vu here.  Has he possibly ignored what a majority of people have said and gone his own way before?

And then he’s trotting out the line that Tony Abbott is directly responsible for the downfall of Kevin Rudd because his popularity started going down once Abbott became Opposition leader.

I know politicians aren’t renowned for their grasp of logic, but maybe someone should point out to him that correlation does not equal causation, i.e. just because it happened in the same time frame doesn’t mean he was the cause…a few other things happened in that period.  Not to mention the fact that Abbott has been totally dominated in Parliament by Rudd since he became leader…not that we hear about that at all.

I sense a hint of future election campaiging here…”vote for Abbott, he got rid of Rudd for you”.  The only problem is it’s the dumbest idea I’ve heard in ages and is most likely to backfire spectacularly.

Mind you that won’t stop little Johnny poking his head up groundhog like and pontificating from the sidelines…and you know the media are going to give him as much air time as they possbily can.

The stupidity of it is that Howard says he doesn’t know yet if Julia Gillard will make a good Prime Minister but she bears responsibility for decisions made under Rudd, and this is reported as news. What the hell else did they think a former Liberal PM would say? She’s gonna be great?

I can’t believe they went to him for quote…why would you bother, you could almost guess what he would say verbatim.

John Howard talks too much, which coincidentally, is the theme of the new post at Cafe Whispers. BTW, keep up the good work MS.

Followed Miglo here from Cafe Whispers after they’d inspired me to this

    Howzat!

    So the redoubtable John Howard
    Has proved himself no coward.
He’s stepped up to the wicket
To seek a role in worldwide cricket.
When first it looked as if he’d win
We saw again that old familar grin.
Now he’s sounding sad and sour
On hearing he’ll not get the power
    To control an international game
In spite of his domestic fame.

Perhaps that is the very reason
He’s not selected for this season.
Surely the ICC would not choose a
Man as leader, now famous as a loser
    In cricket’s happiest home, Australia.
There association with the idea of failure
Means Howard’s name has lost its magic.

Now another loss. He is indeed a cricket tragic.

Whether you like Howard or not the real issue here is that the real politick of Cricket has moved to the Sub Continent for the time being. And although that is Home to many fans I’m sure even the Indian/Paki/Bangas/Zimbabes do not want to piss off the Whities and the Windies .i.e Poms/Oz/Sif Arfrikarns/Kiwis/Bob Marleys of the World.

Otherwise I predict a World of Cricket torn assunder.

And for what it is worth I do hope the Power base does shift to Mumbai for a while as they are sure to flood the Universe with the silly 20/20 version of the Game.
Hopefully one day this version of the Game will go the same way as rhe old Rugby League 7s meaning extinct someday.

It would be preferable to have a shortened version of the 50 over game i.e. 40 overs each with each allotment of 20 overs played as a quarter of the Game. How it would work is still to be finalised but it must be better than 20/20 garbage.

Otherwise I predict that one day no one will bother going to the Cricket

God I hope T20 gets the arse.

To me it’s the most pointless version of the game, providing nothing more than a professional version of backyard cricket that degrades the skills of the players.

There’s only one true version of cricket and you don’t get to wear your pyjamas for it….

    God Bless You All

Yes I also find that the perculiar version of the game called T20 is something that should be counted as part of the overall scheming of the Devil.

You must believe everything I say from now on

Let me guess…you have some money you need to get offshore and need my bank account details?

Would you be offended if I said I was an atheist?
      Is that smiting time?

You’ve really got hand it to John Howard. He just carries on oblivious to the fact that a huge number of people hate his f****** guts.

    • July 5, 2010 at 8:40 AM

Reb, I actually think he truly believes everyone loves him and really wants him to be relevant again.

I think it might be a sign of dementia….
