Abbott brain explosion du jour

I have to admit I was completely gob-smacked when I saw the details of Abbott’s interview on the 7:30 report last night…the guy is seriously lacking an internal filter.

He’s basically admitted that anything he says cannot be taken seriously and only believe stuff he has been forced to commit to paper.  Is he for real?  I know the media are fully in his pocket but does he really think this reflects well on him as Prime Minister material?

He’s saying that he will say anything at all to get into power and that only the stuff on paper will be classed as a committment…that’s pretty much core and non-core promises in flashing neon.

And yet the spin has already started.  I don’t know how Joe Hockey didn’t choke on his own words in Q&A…I mean “straight-talker” and “everyone thinks that about politicans but he just said it”.  Really?  I suppose he needed to give the papers a heads-up about the angle they should run the next day.

Let the media whitewash begin…

    Hi there Massivespray,

I’m not sure how we can take the media seriously when they starting spouting rubbish about how this makes Abbott more honest then the rest. Its not like he held a press conference and said, “Ah, guess, um, what, ah, I, um, lie”. He was caught out, and there wasn’t really that much pressure on him.

That’s the thing Chris. The snippets we hear reported take his reply totally out of context in their attempt to spin it away.
He was quizzed about his policy backflip within a month, crumbled under the “pressure” and imploded. Kerry even gave him an opportunity to cover his own tracks and he ended up shoving both his feet in his gob.

The media in this country has absolutely no shame, and the ABC (with very few exceptions) is right up (down??) there. I thin kit’s gone beyond the point where they are trying to manufacture a contest out of the next election to boost their own bottom line, and possibly now verging into payback for massviely reducing their advertising spend.

I thought it was hilarious Massive!

I think that Tony was too busy concentrating on making sure that he didn’t have a tantrum that he forgot to focus on the words that were spewing forth from his mealy-mouthed gob!

As for Hockey proclaiming that this somehow suggests that Tony is a “straight talker” well that’s the voice of someone who inhabits a parallel universe somewhere near arseville.

I agree reb…I used to have some small amount of respect for Joe, but as soon as rudd became leader of the ALP he turned.
